Damage Prevention Technician

We are currently seeking to staff Utility Locators/Damage Prevention Technicians throughout Louisiana.

Utility Locators prevents damage to underground utilities in an assigned geographic area by performing the following duties:

§         Inspects work site, verifies location, address and area of excavation; identifies utility sources and refers to records.

§         Meets with contractors as required for ticket clarification and documents all conversations.

§         Uses conductive or direct hook up to locate underground utilities.

§         Sweeps for all utility sources and marks all utilities. 

§         Sketches each locate using measurements. 

§         Explain in detail to excavator what the requirements are when digging around a client’s facility. 

§         Have the excavator sign off on Procedure Form.  

§         If excavator is performing any work in a manor that may put the facility at risk, the technician will advise the excavator to stop digging until proper precautions can be taken to prevent damage (i.e., hand exposing, remarking the facility, or pot holing the facility, etc.)

***Training will be provided. Previous experience is not required but preferred
 

§    High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)

§    One to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

§    Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

§    Must be able to drive a manual transmission vehicle, hold a valid Drivers License and clean driving record (no DUIs or serious traffic violations). 

§   Criminal Background Check and Drug Screen will be required.

Work Conditions:

§    Will be required to work in all weather conditions.

§    Frequent standing and occasional walking for a mile or more often on uneven grounds.

§    Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 lbs. and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 lbs and occasionally lift or move up to 100 lbs.
